AUSTIN, Texas – The University of Akron men's and women's track and field team continued its run of solid performances at the Texas Relays hosted by the University of Texas on Friday, March 31.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
• The men's 4x100 relay team of freshman Bobby Golden (Miami, Fla.), redshirt senior Quentin Woodall (Cleveland, Ohio), junior Jameel Williamson (Columbus, Ohio) and junior Haruki Sakai (Katori, Japan) posted a season-best time of 41.68.
• The women's 4x100 relay squad of freshman Tai'Yanna Cage, senior Amya Clarke (Christ Church, St. Kitts and Nevis), freshman Jade Celestine (Ajax, Ontario) and redshirt sophomore Janay Bass (Akron, Ohio) crossed the line in a season-low time of 49.83.
• The men's 4x400 relay team of senior Charles Sanders (Cincinnati, Ohio), freshman Benjamin Hudak (Tallmadge, Ohio), redshirt sophomore Jimmy Harkelroad (Huron, Ohio) and redshirt sophomore Jean Dieuvil (North Miami Beach, Fla.) posted a time of 3:16.13.
• The women's 4x400 relay squad of Bass, freshman Vanessa Horn (Ludwigsfelde, Germany), redshirt sophomore Anna Altstadt (Huntingburg, Ind.) and Celestine registered a time of 4:03.61.
• Junior Dimitrije Novakovic (Belgrade, Serbia) garnered marks of 23-8.25 (7.22m) and 47-4.50 (14.44m) in the men's long jump and triple jump, respectively.
• Woodall and Williamson added times of 10.70 and 11.02 in the men's 100-meter preliminaries, while Clarke posted a time of 11.54 in the women's 100-meter preliminaries.
