SAN MARCOS, Texas – The University of Akron men's and women's track and field team registered a pair of top-10 finishes in second-day competition at the Bobcat Invitational hosted by Texas State on Friday, March 31.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
• In the women's 800 meters, redshirt junior Makenna Heimlich (Shelby, Ohio) finished sixth in a time of 2:13.42.
• Sophomore Oscar Prieto (Barcelona, Spain) placed seventh in men's pole vault with a clearance of 16-4.75 (5.00m).
• Redshirt junior Robert Artrip (Independence, Ohio) recorded a mark of 159-1 (48.48m) to place eighth in the men's javelin.
• Redshirt freshman Gabrielle Griffiths (Fort Worth, Texas) netted a career-best mark of 39-1.75 (11.93m) in the women's shot put.
