AKRON, Ohio – The University of Akron track and field team registered four victories as part of 19 overall top-three finishes to highlight the Zips' performances at the Fourth Annual Al Campbell Invitational on Friday, Feb. 17 at the Stile Athletics Field House.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
• Redshirt sophomore Hunter Garretson (Newcomerstown, Ohio) captured the men's pole vault eclipsing a career-best mark of 18-2.50 (5.55m). His effort stands as the No. 3 mark in indoor program history and the No. 9 performance in the NCAA this season.
• Redshirt junior Milton Wilson (Streetsboro, Ohio) won the men's weight throw with a mark of 68-11.75 (21.02m).
• Redshirt junior Makenna Heimlich (Shelby, Ohio) crossed the line first in the women's 800 meters in a time of 2:12.45.
• Sophomore Adaeze Nwokike (Benin City, Nigeria) took the title in the women's 60-meter hurdles posting a career-best time of 8.69.
• Redshirt senior Rebekah Harden (Tinley Park, Ill.) garnered a second-place finish in the women's 3,000 meters in a career-best time of 10:01.41, while redshirt sophomore Danielle Honaker (Ashland, Ohio) added a career-best effort of 17:56.73 to place second in the women's 5,000 meters.
• Sophomore Grace Henderson (Rostraver Township, Pa.) placed second in the women's mile in a time of 5:15.71.
• Freshman Benjamin Hudak (Tallmadge, Ohio) finished second in the men's 400 meters in a career-best time of 49.54.
• Redshirt junior Caleb Mabins (Erie, Pa.) placed second in the men's long jump with a career-best leap of 23-5.25 (7.14m).
• The women's 4x400 relay team of redshirt sophomore Janay Bass (Akron, Ohio), senior Amya Clarke (Christ Church, St. Kitts and Nevis), freshman Jade Celestine (Ajax, Ontario) and freshman Vanessa Horn (Ludwigsfelde, Germany) earned a second-place finish in a time of 3:56.11.

Akron travels to Bowling Green, Ohio to compete at the Mid-American Conference Championships on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 24-25.
