AKRON, Ohio - The 10th-ranked University of Akron rifle team will begin its postseason campaign this Saturday, Feb. 18, as the Zips travel to Columbus, Ohio, to compete in an NCAA Qualifier match versus No. 6 Nebraska and No. 11 Ohio State at 9 a.m.

All NCAA rife teams in the nation will participate in a qualifier match this weekend. This score will be added to the average of the top-three scores of the season to determine the final national rankings. Only the top-eight teams will be invited to the NCAA Championships to be hosted by Akron at James A. Rhodes Arena, March 10-11. The NCAA Selection Show is slated for Monday, Feb. 20 at 3 p.m.

Freshman Andrew Duross (Marlborough, Mass.) directs Akron's performances on the campaign with a team-best 1174.54 combined average this season. Junior Gavin Perkowski (Bolivar, Ohio) headlines the Zips' efforts in the smallbore (583.15), while sophomore Alexis Kirk (Clarence Center, N.Y.) leads the squad's marks in the air rifle (592.08).

Scheduled to compete for Akron is Duross, sophomore Rachel Engels (Meridian, Idaho), senior Andre Gross (Webster, N.Y.), Kirk, freshman Rachael Paddock (Perry, N.Y.), junior Gavin Perkowski (Bolivar, Ohio) and Erin Schnupp (Gorham, Maine), senior Brendan Seitz (Milford, Mass.) and freshman Natalia Siek (Flemington, N.J.).
