Volleyball to Host Final Home Weekend Series of Season

AKRON, Ohio – The University of Akron volleyball team will have their final home weekend series this weekend against the Bowling Green Falcons. The Zips will honor their four members of the senior class with Senior Day celebrations prior to the match on Saturday.
GAME INFO
Akron (11-13, 6-7 MAC) will host Bowling Green (12-12, 6-7 MAC) on Friday at 6:00 p.m. before having an afternoon start on Saturday to celebrate Senior Day at James A. Rhodes Arena.

ABOUT THE ZIPS
Akron is coming off a weekend on the road, in which they swept Northern Illinois and lost 1-3 at Western Michigan. Faith Johnson recorded a total of 34 kills in the two matches, as well as registering her 13th double-double this season. Johnson is seventh in the conference recording an average of 3.54 kills per set. Eliska Vytiskova averaged 12.14 assists per set and added two aces against Western Michigan. She ranks fourth in the conference averaging 9.01 assists per set on the season. Ellen Kinnaird added two aces of her own on Friday night and ranks sixth in the MAC for hitting percentage at .328. The Zips have a MAC-high 195 services aces and are the only team in the conference to average more than two aces per set (2.05). Individually, Akron has three players in the top ten for aces per set – Vytiskova (3rd - .48), Vanessa Del Real (5th - .45), and Johnson (9th - .34).
SCOUT THE OPPONENT
Bowling Green also split last weekend, as they swept Eastern Michigan on Thursday evening before they fell in five sets to Central Michigan on Friday. Lauryn Hovey landed a career-high 32 kills and a team-high three aces. Jaden Walz set the attack with a career-high 53 assists and added 13 digs to record her 8th double-double this season. Hovey is the highest scoring player in the MAC, averaging 4.39 points per set and totaling 417 this season which is a new career-high for points in a season.

The Zips will have their final road trip of the season next weekend. They will head to Oxford, Ohio to face Miami at 6:30 p.m. on Friday and 5:00 p.m. on Saturday before they return home for their final match of the season against Buffalo on November 15.
