AKRON, Ohio – The University of Akron women's basketball team will host Walsh University in its lone exhibition contest of the preseason on Thursday (Nov. 2) at 7:30 p.m. at James A. Rhodes Arena.

SCOUTING AKRON
Entering his first season as head coach, Ryan Gensler, boasts a talented mix of returners to go along with nine newcomers for an Akron squad that will kick off its campaign hosting Oakland on Nov. 6 at the JAR.
Junior Reagan Bass (Strongsville, Ohio), a 2022-23 Mid-American Conference First-Team honoree, averaged 17.1 points and 7.7 rebounds per contest a year ago, both team-high marks, headlines the returning players for the Zips. Akron will also be bolstered by seniors Tahmala Thorpe (Mississauga, Ontario) and Alexis Stewart (Hamilton, Ontario), junior Zakia Rasheed (Avon, Ind.) and sophomore Annie Watson (Akron, Ohio), who all return for the Zips this season.
Gensler and his staff have assembled a talented newcomer class that includes redshirt senior Morgan Haney (Piqua, Ohio), juniors Alexus Mobley (Indianapolis, Ind.) and Kaia Woods (Tiffin, Ohio), sophomores Lanae Riley (Akron, Ohio) and Liisa Taponen (Tampere, Finland) and freshmen Olivia Brown (Fishers, Ind.), Teniesha Clarke (Burlington, Ontario), Leila Jones (Westerville, Ohio) and Dacia Lewandowski (Pittsburgh, Pa.).
SCOUTING WALSH
Walsh enters the 2023-24 campaign on the heels of posting a 12-17 mark a year ago, including a 10-10 mark in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference.
Sophomore F Kylie Dyrlund is the Cavs leading returning scorer after averaging 8.9 points and 5.0 rebounds per game last season.
