AKRON, Ohio - A trio of second-half goals, including a pair from junior Jason Shokalook (Erie, Pa.) propelled the fourth-rated University of Akron men's soccer team to a 3-0 victory over DePaul on Saturday (Oct. 7) at FirstEnergy Stadium.
How it Happened
Akron grabbed a 1-0 lead when sophomore Stefan Dobrijevic (Uniontown, Ohio) scored his second goal of the season in the 72nd minute, assisted by juniors Jonas Buechte (Rantigen, Germany) and Malik Henry (Hamilton, Ontario).
The Zips increased their lead to 2-0 on a goal from Jason Shokalook, his ninth goal of the season in the 73rd minute, assisted by Rui Reis (Lisbon, Portugal).
Akron made it a 3-0 advantage on Shokalook's 81st minute goal, his 10th of the season. Junior Gyuwon Chong (Kansas City, Mo.) assisted the goal. Shokalook has now scored two goals in three consecutive contests.
Game Notes
- Redshirt sophomore Mitch Budler (Lincoln, Neb.) totaled two saves for the Zips out of four total Blue Demons shots.
- Akron totaled 11 shots on goal.
