Fleiner and van Son Fire Under Par Scores at Shirley Spork EMU Invitational

Ypsilanti, Mich. – Senior Abbi Fleiner (Reno, Nev.) and junior Daphne van Son (Vlijmen, Netherlands) posted under-par performances to led the Akron golf scoring through 36-holes at the Shirley Spork EMU Invitational hosted by Eastern Michigan on Monday.
Fleiner carded a career-best seven birdies mixed with nine par scores and two bogeys for a 5-under par 67 second 18-hole round score. She climbed 19 spots on the players' leaderboard as she was one of two players with a 5-under par 67 score for 18-holes. Fleiner opened the 54-hole tournament with a 76 (+4) ledger and enters the final round tied for third with a 1-under par 143 total.
Van Son also posted an under-par performance for 18 holes, carding an opening round 2-under par 70 score. She fired three birdies and 14 par scores to finish the initial 18-holes in a first-place tie with Oakland's Bridget Boczar and Bowling Green's Ava O'Sullivan. Van Son carded an 80 (+8) second round total for a 150 (+6) tournament ledger and currently stands tied for 15th overall.
Senior Jessica Hahn (Canton, Ohio), sophomore Hridhika Vora (Mumbai, Maharashtra), freshman Katrin Horn Danielsdottir (Reykjavik, Iceland) and sophomore Avery Wright (Jackson, Ohio) follow in scoring for Akron.
Tuesday's final 18-hole round at the Par 72, 6,159-yard Eagle Crest Golf Club is scheduled for a shotgun start at 9 a.m. with Akron beginning the round on holes 10-13.
