Zips Swept by Ball State

MUNCIE, IND. --The Akron volleyball team fell to the Ball State Cardinals 3-0 (18-25, 14-25, 24-26) Thursday on the road at Worthen Arena.
The loss dropped Akron's record to 10-8 overall and 5-2 in MAC play. Ball State moves to 10-8 and undefeated in conference play.Â
The Zips were led by a double-double from Faith Johnson, who registered 10 kills and 10 digs on the day. Lauren Baker also added nine kills to help the attack. On the defensive end, Vanessa Del Real chipped in for 13 digs to go with three blocks each from Ellen Kinnaird and Melisa Tore.

How It Happened
SET 1 | The Zips fell behind early, losing a tough first set 25-18. Akron trailed by as many as seven points as Ball State grabbed the advantage for good at 2-1 before the Cardinals took the set.
SET 2 | A 25-14 set-two loss put Akron in a 2-0 hole in the match. Akron trailed by as many as 11 points as Ball State grabbed the advantage for good at 7-6 in a set that was tied up three times before the Cardinals took over the lead.
SET 3 | Akron could not win set three and was swept by Ball State. The Zips couldn't endure a ferocious Ball State rally, losing 26-24 after leading by nine points at 19-10 earlier in the set.
