WHAT'S AHEAD
Akron baseball continues Mid-American Conference play at home, hosting the Broncos of Western Michigan on Friday through Saturday, April 8-10 at Skeeles Field. First pitch on Friday, April 8 is slated for 3 p.m., followed by a doubleheader on Saturday, April 9, and the series finale on Sunday, April 10, both days starting at noon. Fans can follow Friday and Saturday's games live on Zips Digital Network or all four games via live stats on GoZips.com.

Under the guidance of third-year head coach Chris Sabo, the Zips own a 8-19 overall record and a 6-10 league mark.  In addition, the Zips opened with a win over Bowling Green last series, but the Falcon claimed three-straight games to win the series.
Akron is hitting .257 as a team with 226 hits, including a .264 in league average with 133 hits. Graduate student Nick Arrivo (Ann Arbor, Mich.) leads the Zips' offense with a .309 BA on 30-of-97, including a homerun five doubles with 18 RBI and 11 runs scored. Senior Tate Wargo (Benld, Ill.) and freshman Cameron Benson (Farmington Hills, Mich.) follow with .307 BA and .300 BA, respectively. Wargo distributed 23 hits with four doubles and 12 RBI with 13 runs scored, while Benson delivered 30 hits with six doubles, three homeruns and a triple to go along with a team-best 19 RBI and 11 runs scored.

Last season, the Broncos swept the four-game series and WMU owns a 30-21 all-time series advantage.
Western Michigan
Split last weekend's series against Eastern Michigan as the Broncos dropped the first two games and bounced back with two-straight wins. The Broncos offense is led by senior Connor Charping with a team-best 37 hits for a .409 BA with a team-high eight doubles. Gavin Doyle follows with a .397 BA with 23 hits and seven doubles. Both players have nine RBI.
