AKRON, Ohio - On a day when the University of Akron lacrosse team honored it four graduating seniors in Anna Dennison (Fallston, Md.), Alayna Dunphy (Perrysburg, Ohio), Sydney Franklin (Phoenix, Ariz.) and Abby McMullen (Medina, Ohio), it was Detroit that spoiled the Zips' celebration as the Titans earned a 14-8 triumph over Akron on Saturday, April 23, at InfoCision Stadium-Summa Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
• Junior Kaija Kunttu (Zionsville, Ind.) opened the scoring in the match for the Zips connecting on a goal at the 14:03 mark off an assist from Dennison..
• After back-to-back tallies from the Titans, junior Alexis Kiefer (West Chicago, Ill.) delivered her 25th goal of the season at the 6:56 mark of the opening quarter to square the contest at two.
• The Zips assumed a 4-3 advantage following goals from sophomore Madeline Shewbridge (Cincinnati, Ohio) and sophomore Noelle Boyd (Murrysville, Pa.) with 4:46 and 2:34 remaining in the opening stanza, respectively. The tally was the first of the season for Shewbridge and came courtesy of an assist from McMullen.
• Detroit scored three straight goals to regain the lead, 6-4, before McMullen netted her first of two goals on the afternoon at the 9:14 mark of the second quarter.
• The Titans held a 7-5 advantage at halftime.
• Detroit opened the second half with four unanswered goals before McMullen found the back of the net at the 1:22 mark of the third quarter.
• Boyd and sophomore Anjali Silverheels (Hamburg, N.Y.) capped Akron's scoring on the day with tallies at the 11:03 and 7:49 marks, respectively, of the final period. Boyd's goal came on a successful free position shot.
• Sophomore GK Ashley Lapp (Missouri City, Texas) and freshman Hannah Sanders (Massillon, Ohio) registered six and five saves, respectively, for the Zips.
• Boyd led Akron with six shots, all on goal, while Dennison and Boyd each recorded four shots.
