AKRON, Ohio -Â The University of Akron lacrosse team welcomes Detroit Mercy to InfoCision Stadium-Summa Field for Senior Day on Saturday, April 23, as the Zips battle the Titans in a 2 p.m. Mid-American Conference showdown.

SCOUTING AKRON:
Junior Alexis Kiefer (West Chicago, Ill.) and sophomore Noelle Boyd (Murrysville, Pa.), who own 84 and 80 shots, respectively, have headlined Akron's offensive efforts this season. Kiefer, Boyd, junior Kaija Kunttu (Zionsville, Ind.), sophomore Anjali Silverheels (Hamburg, N.Y.) and freshman Izzy Szejk (Camp Hill, Pa.) have posted a team-high 33, 24, 13, 11 and nine goals, respectively, while Boyd has registered team-best marks in goals (33), points (38), shots on goal (67), draw controls (108) and ground balls (37), while ranking second in assists (5) and shots (80). Sophomore GK Ashley Lapp (Missouri City, Texas) and freshman GK Hannah Sanders (Massillon, Ohio) have combined to turn in 148 saves for Akron on the year.

Boyd rates first in the MAC in draw controls (108) and draw controls per match (7.20), second in ground balls (37) and ground balls per outing (2.47), fifth in goals (33) and shots (80) and shots per contest (5.33) and sixth in goals per game (2.20). Kiefer is ranked fourth in shots (84) and shots per tilt (5.60). Lapp ranks third in the conference in ground balls (2.36) per outing, saves (111) and goals against average (12.53) and fourth in ground balls (33) and save percentage (.432)

Additionally, junior Abby McMullen is rated third in the league in caused turnovers (23), caused turnover per outing (1.53) and in ground balls (35), fourth ground balls per tilt (2.29), seventh in draw controls (47) and eighth in draw controls per match (3.13), while junior Jenna Ridener (Cincinnati, Ohio) rates fourth in caused turnovers (22) and caused turnovers per outing (1.47). Junior Julia Frombach (Avon, Ohio) is ranked fifth in caused turnovers (21) and caused turnovers per match (1.40), seventh in ground balls (28) and eighth in ground balls per game (1.87).

Akron is meeting Detroit for the fourth time in program history with the Zips leading the all-time series, 2-1. The Titans' record stands at 1-12 on the campaign, including a 1-7 mark in league play, following a 10-9 overtime setback versus Youngstown State on Saturday, April 16. Sophomore Cat Kopchia directs the Detroit offensive attack with team-high marks in goals (22), assists (14), points (36), shots (63) and shots on goal (47). Freshman GK Meredith Leavell has collected 57 saves on the campaign for the Titans. Detroit is led by third-year head coach Dwayne Hicks, who owns a 4-24 ledger as a head coach.

Goalkeeper Ashley Lapp is rated 49th in the NCAA in ground balls per match (2.36), 52nd in save percentage (.432), 54th in saves per game (7.93), 55th in goals against average (12.53) and 56th in saves (111). Noelle Boyd is ranked 11th in draw controls per contest (7.20) and 36th in ground balls per tilt (2.47). Abby McMullen and Jenna Ridener are rated 33rd and 41st, respectively, in caused turnovers per match at 1.53 and 1.47.
