WHAT'S AHEAD
Akron baseball continues Mid-American Conference play on the road against Bowling Green. First pitch on Friday, April 1 is slated for 3 p.m., followed by a doubleheader on Saturday, April 2, and the series finale on Sunday, April 3, both days starting at noon. Under the guidance of third-year head coach Chris Sabo, the Zips own a 7-15 overall record and a 5-7 league mark. In addition, the Zips claimed the final game of the Eastern Michigan series and defeated Shawnee State on Tuesday for a two-game winning streak.

Akron is hitting .239 as a team with 128 hits, including a .248 in league average with 59 hits. The Zips have hit 12-of-21 doubled during the last eight games and scored 28-of-60 runs in the same time frame.

Earlier this week, freshman starting pitcher Jacob Krausher (Vermilion, Ohio) posted his first collegiate win in his first college starting appearance. In seven innings of work, Krausher allowed one run on three hits with seven strikeouts and two walks against 25 batters en route to a 7-3 win over the Bears.

Graduate student Nick Arrivo (Ann Arbor, Mich.), senior Jerry Reinhart (Batavia, N.Y.) and freshman Ian Pennington (Springboro, Ohio) recorded two hits each in the win, including a homerun (Arrivo), and a pair of doubles (Reinhart and Pennington).

The Series
Last season, the Falcons won the series 3-1 and lead the all-time series 45-30.

Bowling Green
BG is coming off a big mid-week win over B1G opponent Michigan State. The Falcons defeated the Spartans 12-3, marking their first win over a Power 5 opponent since 2014. The Falcons own a 4-16 overall record and stand 1-9 in league play.

MAC PREDICTIONS
Central Michigan was selected to win the 2022 Mid-American Conference title in a preseason poll conducted by the league's 11 head coaches.
