AKRON, Ohio- The Akron softball team (4-18, 1-2 MAC) fell in two games in a doubleheader with Central Michigan on Sunday afternoon with a 7-5 setback, followed by an 8-0 loss in five innings.

GM 1 Akron 5, CMU 7
The Chippewas got on the board first and scored two runs in the first inning taking a 2-0 lead. Akron answered back with a homer from Laurel DeVoe (North Canton, Ohio) in the second inning, before tying the game in the third with an rbi single from Kalli Macintosh-Houlder (Mississauga, Ont.).

Central Michigan added three runs in the sixth inning to re-take the lead, 5-2. Freshman Lexi Campbell (Indianapolis, Ind.) hit a two-run homer that cut CMU's lead to 5-4. The Chippewas put together a two-run inning in the seventh to make it 5-4. In the Zips' attempts to rally, DeVoe homered for the second time of the day, but CMU held on for the 7-5 victory.

Alexa DiFeo (Akron, Ohio) suffered the loss after tossing five innings giving up two runs on two hits and striking out six batters.

A wild pitch, three walks, and five hits, and an error gave CMU a 6-0 lead in the second inning.

A solo homer by the Chippewas in the fourth extended their lead, before making it 8-0 on a fielding error in the fifth inning.

Akron's Katelyn Reynolds (Cincinnati, Ohio) singled in the bottom half of the inning, but was stranded as Central Michigan secured the 8-0 victory.

Olivia Stefanoni (Hudson, Ohio) tossed 2.1 innings giving up four runs on four hits.

Akron will play a midweek doubleheader on the road on Tuesday, March 22, as the Zips face Robert Morris. The first game of the doubleheader is slated to start at 2 p.m.
