AKRON, Ohio - The University of Akron women's lacrosse sophomore Noelle Boyd (Murrysville, Pa.) scored a career-high six goals to spark the Zips (2-2, 1-0 MAC) to an 11-6 triumph past rival Kent State (0-3, 0-1 MAC) on Wednesday, Feb. 23 at InfoCision Stadium-Summa Field.

Akron garnered a half point in the 14-sport Crystal Clinic Orthopaedic Center Wagon Wheel Challenge by virtue of the victory. Through 10 events this season, the Golden Flashes lead the series, 4.0-2.5.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
• Boyd opened the scoring in the affair with a tally at the 10:40 mark of the first quarter off a free position shot.
• The Golden Flashes scored the next two goals to assume a 2-1 lead before the Zips went ahead to stay with three unanswered tallies. Boyd found the back of the net with a free position shot with 35 seconds remaining in the opening stanza before earning the hat trick with a goal at the 13:25 mark in the second quarter.
• Junior Alexis Kiefer (West Chicago, Ill.) netted her sixth goal of the year with 12:33 remaining before halftime scoring off a free position shot.
• The two sides exchanged the first five goals of the third quarter, including goals from sophomore Mackenzie Kirwan (Appleton, Wis.), Kiefer and Boyd, who delivered tallies at the 12:43, 5:43 and 3:21 marks, respectively.
• Freshman Izzy Szejk (Camp Hill, Pa.) found the back of the net with one second remaining in the third quarter to extend Akron's lead to 8-5.
• The Golden Flashes scored the first goal of the final quarter before Kirwan connected on a tally at the 10:36 mark to push Akron's margin to 9-6.
• Boyd capped the scoring with goals at the 7:00 and 4:31 marks, respectively.
• Sophomore GK Ashley Lapp (Missouri City, Texas) tallied 16 saves in net in the match for the Zips.
• Kiefer recorded a game-high eight shots for Akron, while Boyd found the back of the net on each of her six shots on the afternoon, while adding an assist.
