Nashville, Tenn. – The Akron Zips baseball team held a 2-1 advantage after 2.5 innings of play, but could not overcome two big innings by Lipscomb as the Bisons posted a 12-4 game two win on Saturday at Dugan Field.

For the second straight game, Akron delivered 11 hits as senior Zac Granger (Elmira, N.Y.), Junior Kaito Hara (Houston, Texas) and Graduate student Jackson Haas (Cincinnati, Ohio) blasted doubles. Granger went 2-for-2 at the plate with a walk and two runs scored, while freshman Cameron Benson (Farmington Hills, Mich.), graduate student Nick Arrivo (Ann Arbor, Mich.) and freshman Andrew Horvath ( Aurora, Ohio) added multiple-hit performances of 2-for-4, 2-for-4 and 2-for-5, respectively.

Lipscomb plated a run in the bottom of the second inning and Akron answered in the top of the third. Granger led-off with a bunt for a base hit, Hara walked and Benson drove Granger across the plate with a single to right field. Hara stole home for the Zips second run. Lipscomb added a run in the bottom half of the inning to tie the game 2-2, and scored four runs in the fourth and five in the sixth en route to the 12-4 result.

Akron senior starting pitcher Taed Heydinger (Bayfield, Colo.) received the loss, allowing six runs on eight hits with three strikeouts and two walks. Lipscomb's Matthew Bohnert earned the win with two innings pitched, four strikeouts and one walk while limiting Akron to only one hit.

The final game of the series against Lipscomb is scheduled for Sunday, Feb. 20 at 1 p.m. ET at Dugan Field. Fans can follow the action live on YouTube or via live stats on GoZips.com.
