Akron Swim & Dive Hosts 2022 Zippy Invitational

What's Ahead
The Akron swimming and diving program hosts the 2022 Zippy Invitational at Oliver J. Ocasek Natatorium on Thursday-Sunday, Dec. 1-4, featuring seven women's teams and five men's programs. The four-day event is open to the public and fans can purchase digital tickets only. The event will be streamed live on Zips Digital Network and live results are available on Meet Mobile.

The Format:
Thursday consists of one session, starting at 6 p.m. The following three days feature two ticketed sessions each day as the prelims are slated for a 9 a.m. start time all three days. On Friday and Saturday, finals are scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. On Sunday, finals are slated for a 4 p.m. start. Diving events will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, 1:30 p.m. on Saturday and Noon on Sunday.

Diving Format:
The 1M and 3M diving will consist of 6 optional dives. Men's and women's 1M finals will follow prelims, while 3M prelims will take place during 1M prelims on alternating days. The 3M finals will take place during the evening sessions on alternating days. In addition, there will be an exhibition platform event, consisting of five dives for the women and six dives for the men on Sunday afternoon.

Swimming Format:
The meet will be a prelims-finals format. Championship finals, consolation finals, and bonus finals will consist of eight swimmers each. Scoring will be through 24th place. The 1650 and the relays will be timed finals. Prelims will utilize flyover starts. During finals the pool will be cleared before the start of each race.
