Chicago State comes into play on Sunday, Oct. 9, at 1-7-3 on the campaign, including a 0-2-0 record in the Mid-American Conference, following a 3-1 setback versus Northern Illinois on Thursday, Oct. 6.
Sophomore Danail Sergiev leads the Cougars in goals (6) and points (13), while sophomore Niall Reid-Stephen directs Chicago State in assists (2), shots (34) and shots on goal (15). Senior GK Marco Seyfert has pulled in 35 saves en route to posting a 2.73 goals against average and one shutouts.
Individually, Sergiev is rated 25th in total goals (6) and 43rd in total points (16), while Reid-Stephen is 40th in shots per game (3.09). Additionally, Seyfert is ranked fourth in goalie minutes played (990:00) and 50th in total saves (35).

The recent successes of the Akron men's soccer program over the past 16 seasons (2007-present) can be attributed to its play in the month of October. Since the start of the 2007 campaign, the Zips own a 80-16-12 (.796) ledger in the month, including a 45-7-5 (.833) mark in matches at FirstEnergy Stadium.

• Akron has scored three or more goals in six of its 11 games this season.
• The Zips are rated 12th in the NCAA in total goals (26), 13th in total assists (16) and total points (80), 15th in points per game (7.27), 16th in scoring offense (2.45), 17th in assists per tilt (2.36), 31st in goal differential (11), 36th in shot accuracy (.472), 41st in winning percentage (.682) and 47th in shots on goal per contest (6.09).

• The Zips are 2-2-2 versus ranked teams this season following a 1-0 victory over No. 24 Duquesne (Sept. 28), a 1-0 setback at No. 18 Penn State (Sept. 25), 3-3 draw at No. 3 Pitt (Sept. 19), 3-3 draw versus No. 22 Ohio State (Sept. 13), a 2-0 loss at Indiana (Sept. 9) and a 5-3 victory past No. 18 FIU (Aug. 25).
• Dyson Clapier is Akron's active career leader in goals (11), while Jason Shokalook leads the team in points (28). Shokalook and Ryan Kingsford have scored 10 and nine goals, respectively. Will Jackson paces the squad in shots (70) and shots on goal (33) and Clapier in game-winning goals (5). Shokalook leads the Zips in assists (10).
