Akron Hosts Ohio Bobcats for Weekend Series, PINK Game Friday

AKRON, Ohio - The Akron volleyball team hosts the Ohio Bobcats on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 21-22 at James A. Rhodes Arena. Friday's PINK Game is slated for a 6 p.m. start time, while Saturday's match is a 4 p.m. start. Fans can follow on ESPN3 or via live stats at GoZips.com

Friday's Pink Game features a collaboration of the women's basketball and volleyball programs to raise awareness and support breast cancer awareness through donations, 50/50 raffle and silent auction. All proceeds will benefit the Karen P. Nakon Breast Cancer Foundation which will serve as a precursor to the women's basketball 5th annual Akron for Nakon event on Saturday, Feb. 11. The mission of the event is to raise funds to support those suffering from breast cancer, honor the survivors of all cancers, and educate the community. All proceeds of the Akron for Nakon game will benefit the local community foundation.

Ohio enters the match with a 12-8 overall record and 6-3 league mark, winning four of the last five matches. The Bobcats started the run by defeating Central Michigan (3-0) and Eastern Michigan (3-1) before falling to Buffalo (2-3). Ohio bounced back with a five-set win over the Bulls (3-2) and followed with another five-set thriller at Kent State (W, 3-2).
