AKRON, Ohio – The 20th-rated University of Akron men's soccer team battled through the elements before exiting its Mid-American Conference showdown with Bowling Green (3-3-5, 1-1-2 MAC) on Monday, Oct. 17 with a 0-0 draw at FirstEnergy Stadium.
Wind and rain limited the scoring opportunities for both sides as Akron (8-2-4, 3-0-2 MAC) finished the evening registering a 12-2 advantage in shots, including a 3-1 margin in shots on goal.
Redshirt freshman GK Mitch Budler (Lincoln, Neb.) recorded his third consecutive and fifth overall shutout of the season making one save for the Zips.
Sophomore Jonas Buechte (Rantigen, Germany) led Akron's efforts recording a game-high three shots, while sophomore Dyson Clapier (Layton, Utah), junior Johnny Fitzgerald (Tallahassee, Fla.), senior Renato Kauzlaric (Zagreb, Croatia) and junior Ryan Kingsford (Herne Bay, England) added two shots apiece.
