BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - Sophomore Danielle Honaker (Ashland, Ohio) headlined the performances of the University of Akron cross country squad at the Falcon Invitational hosted by Bowling Green on Friday, Oct. 14.
Â
Honaker traversed the 6K course in a team- and career-best time of 22:38.9 (PR), to direct Akron to a ninth-place finish in the overall field as every Zip posted a personal-best time in the 6K.
"Overall, Danielle Honaker had another solid performance to lead the squad and we are happy with a good first race of the season effort by Jules Frombach to compete in our top five positions," said Akron head coach Dr. Tim Sykes. "As a team, it's exciting to see all the PRs and improvements over the 6K distance for such a young squad, but we also know we have some specifics to work on in race execution before the MAC Championships. We'll reflect and improve in a couple areas and be ready to go at MAC Championships in two weeks."
Senior Rebekah Harden (Tinley Park, Ill.) was next across the line for the Zips posting a time of 23:13.2 (PR).
Â
Rounding out Akron's scoring efforts was the trio of sophomores Makenna Heimlich (Shelby, Ohio) and Hannah Kerr (Chillicothe, Ohio) and redshirt sophomore Julia Frombach (Avon, Ohio), who registered times of 23:20.7 (PR), 24:06.9 (PR) and 24:07.1 (PR), respectively.
Â
Additionally, sophomore Emerson Rainsburg (Dover, Ohio), redshirt sophomore Maddie Heimlich (Shelby, Ohio) and sophomores Grace Henderson (Rostraver Township, Pa.) and Emily Razo (Salem, Ohio) added times of 24:19.3 (PR), 24:43.9 (PR), 24:49.6 (PR) and 25:43.8 (PR).
