Akron Announces 2021 Women’s Soccer Schedule

2021 AKRON WOMEN'S SOCCER SCHEDULE
AKRON, Ohio - The University of Akron women's soccer team unveiled a challenging 2021 slate, one that will include nine home matches at FirstEnergy Stadium, seventh-year head coach Noreen Herlihy announced today.
In 2021, the Zips' 19-match regular season slate features a 11-game Mid-American Conference schedule.
The Zips are slated to open their regular season campaign hosting Dayton on Aug. 19 at FirstEnergy Stadium.
Akron follows opening a two-game road swing to Ohio State and Saint Francis (Pa.) on Aug. 22 and Aug. 26, respectively, before Akron battling Cleveland State on Aug. 29.
The month of September includes home contests versus Wright State (Sept. 2), Marshall (Sept. 5), Ohio (Sept. 26) and Miami (Sept. 30).
The Zips welcome league rivals Eastern Michigan (Oct. 10), Northern Illinois (Oct. 14) and defending MAC Champion Bowling Green (Oct. 24) to FirstEnergy Stadium in October.
Akron then closes out its regular season campaign visiting Buffalo for a showdown with the Bulls on Oct. 28.
The Zips will take the field for the initial time versus Indiana on Thursday, Aug. 12 in Bloomington, Ind., in an exhibition contest.
Akron opens its 2021 campaign hosting Dayton on Aug. 19 at FirstEnergy Stadium before traveling to Columbus, Ohio to encounter Ohio State for the first time since the 2010 season on Aug. 22.
The Zips follow with a road tests at Saint Francis (Pa.) on Aug. 26 before closing the month of August with the first of three consecutive home contests, welcoming Cleveland State, Wright State and Marshall to FirstEnergy Stadium on Aug. 29, Sept. 2 and Sept. 5, respectively.

Akron will battle Youngstown State (Sept. 12) and Niagara (Sept. 16) before lacing it up against the Golden Flashes (Sept. 23) to commence a league slate that will feature two home contests followed by two road games the remainder of the campaign until the regular season finale at Buffalo (Oct. 28).

The complete MAC Tournament returns after a two-year hiatus with the top-eight teams qualifying for the championship event. The opening round will be contested on Oct. 31 at campus sites before the tournament's No. 1 seed hosts the semifinal and championship matches where the league's automatic qualifying bid to the NCAA Championship is on the line on Nov. 4 and Nov. 7, respectively.
The NCAA Women's Soccer Championship play is set to commence in November and will culminate Dec. 3-5 at the College Cup in San Jose, Calif.
