AKRON, Ohio - A four-run second inning proved too much for the University of Akron women's softball team to overcome as Ball State (21-10, 15-0) captured the Mid-American Conference series finale, 6-0, over the Zips (3-27, 2-14 MAC) on Sunday, April 18 at Lee R. Jackson Field.

Redshirt freshman CF Molly McChesney (Verona, Wis.) and freshman Anna Aquino (Medina, Ohio) garnered base hits in the contest for Akron, with Aquino delivering a pinch-hit single in the seventh inning.

Freshman P Olivia Stefanoni (Hudson, Ohio) was solid in relief for the Zips tossing 3.1 innings and striking out five, while allowing only one run.

Akron returns to action traveling to Athens, Ohio for a doubleheader versus Ohio on Tuesday, April 20. Game time is slated for 1 p.m.
