AKRON, Ohio -Â The University of Akron women's lacrosse team returns home this week as the Zips welcome Presbyterian and Detroit to InfoCision Stadium-Summa Field for matches on Tuesday (March 23) and Saturday (March 27), respectively.

The Zips open the week with a non-conference showdown against the Blue Hose at 12 p.m. on Tuesday, March 23. Akron then resumes Mid-American Conference play battling the Titans at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 27.

SCOUTING PRESBYTERIAN:
Presbyterian is off to 1-1 start to the campaign entering its match at Kent State on Monday, March 22. Sophomore Abby Edmisten leads the Blue Hose in goals (6), assists (2), points (8) and shots (1), while ranking second in shots on goal (6). Junior GK Heidi Shafer has started both matches for Presbyterian and has recorded 14 saves. The Blue Hose are led by second-year head coach Eric Clakeley, who owns a 3-6 ledger.

SCOUTING DETROIT:
Detroit is off to an 0-2 start to its campaign following a 12-7 setback versus Youngstown State on March 13. Junior Elise Harder directs the Titans' offensive attack with team-high marks in goals (5), points (5), shots (8) and shots on goal (7). Senior GK Maddie Johnson has posted 11 saves on the campaign in net for Detroit. The Titans are led by first-year head coach Dwayne Hicks, who owns a 0-2 ledger.

A WEEK AGO:
Akron found itself in a back-and-forth non-conference contest with St. Bonaventure on Saturday, March 20, before the Bonnies escaped a strong second-half effort by the Zips to earn a 13-12 triumph.

Freshmen Noelle Boyd (Murrysville, Pa.), Madeline Shewbridge (Cincinnati, Ohio) and Anjali Silverheels (Hamburg, N.Y.) each registered a pair of goals to highlight Akron's offensive performances on the afternoon. Shewbridge and redshirt sophomore Kaylee Riggins (Zionsville, Ind.) also garnered an assist in the match.

Redshirt junior Anna Dennison (Fallston, Md.), freshman Jacqueline Glassey (Kildeer, Ill.), redshirt freshmen Alexis Kiefer (West Chicago, Ill.), freshman Abby McMullen (Medina, Ohio) and redshirt freshman Abby Schaefer (Beaver Falls, Pa.) accounted for the balance of the Zips' goals in the tilt.

Redshirt freshmen GK's Abby Lerch (Coraopolis, Pa.) and Ashley Lapp (Missouri City, Texas) recorded two and six saves, respectively, for Akron, while their counterpart Ashley Herrick posted 10 stops for St. Bonaventure.

The Zips finished the contest registering a 28-25 edge in overall shots, while the Bonnies earned a 22-21 margin in shots on goal.

After falling behind 3-0 in the match, the Zips squared the score at three on the strength of first-half tallies from Dennison, Silverheels and Boyd at the 7:47, 8:32 and 10:13 marks, respectively.

St. Bonaventure regained the lead and held an 8-4 advantage before Boyd closed the half with a goal in the 28th minute (27:59).

Akron came out of the intermission and took a 9-8 lead with four unanswered tallies from Silverheels, Schaefer, McMullen and Riggins in the second (1:54), fifth (4:13 and 4:48) and sixth (5:23) minutes, respectively.

The Bonnies responded scoring four of the next five goals to assume a lead they didn't relinquish, despite goals from Kiefer, Shewbridge and Glassey at the 13:57, 15:35 and 29:42 marks, respectively.

Akron battled one of the top teams in the Mid-American Conference for a full 60 minutes before Robert Morris netted a 15-4 triumph over the Zips on Tuesday, March 16.

Boyd, Dennison, Kiefer and Silverheels accounted for the Zips' goals in the contest as the quartet each netted a second-half tally for Akron.

Lerch recorded a season-high 14 saves for Akron, while her counterpart Katelyn Miller posted six stops for Robert Morris.

The Colonials finished the contest registering a 40-17 edge in overall shots, and a 29-10 margin in shots on goal.

The Zips were held off the scoreboard in the opening half as Robert Morris posted a 24-7 advantage in shots to take assume a 7-0 lead at the intermission.

The Colonials scored the first three tallies of the second half before Kiefer netted her team-leading 15th goal of the season at the 12:24 mark.

Following another tally by Robert Morris, Akron collected back-to-back goals from Silverheels and Dennison in the 20th (19:16) and 21st (20:09) minutes, respectively.
