2021 AKRON LACROSSE SCHEDULE

AKRON, Ohio -Â The University of Akron women's lacrosse team unveiled a challenging 2021 spring slate, one that will include nine home matches at InfoCision Stadium-Summa Field, second-year head coach Christy Mitchell announced today.

"I am so proud of this team," Mitchell commented. "The past year's adversities have helped us truly understand the gift of being an athlete, and even more so, the gift of being a Zip. We are ready to play, ready to prove that we are competitors, ready to be in the MAC and ready to win and ready to represent all of the hard work that has finally brought us to the 2021 season."
In 2021, the Zips' 15-match regular season slate features a double round-robin Mid-American Conference schedule, as well as non-conference showdowns versus St. Francis (Pa.) (Feb. 28), Delaware State (March 9), St. Bonaventure (March 20) and Presbyterian (March 23).
Due to current university COVID-19 protocols, family members and friends of the players and coaches, as well as fans, will not be permitted to attend on-campus events, including Akron women's lacrosse games until further notice.
The University of Akron is following the Summit County Stay at Home Health Advisory issued by Summit County Executive Ilene Shapiro and Summit County Health Commissioner Donna Skoda.
The University continues to work closely with state and local health officials on protocols for hosting events and make appropriate adjustments throughout the coming weeks. The Zips are slated to open their regular season campaign hosting Gardner-Webb at InfoCision Stadium-Summa Field for Akron's home opener on Feb. 26, before traveling to St. Francis (Pa.) on Feb. 28.

The month of March also includes home league contests versus Youngstown State (March 5) and Detroit (March 27).

The Zips welcome Central Michigan to Akron on April 3 and Robert Morris on April 17, while closing out their regular season campaign welcoming Kent State to InfoCision Stadium-Summa Field on May 8.

The Zips will take the field for the initial time for a scrimmage versus Tiffin on Feb. 13, before welcoming Gardner-Webb to InfoCision Stadium-Summa Field on Feb. 26 for Akron's season opener. The Zips will close the month with a non-conference test at St. Francis (Pa.) on Feb. 28.

Akron opens up the inaugural Mid-American Conference campaign hosting Youngstown State on March 5. The 2021 MAC spring schedule will consist of double round-robin format with each team playing home and away contests versus the other five league schools.

The Zips step out of league play to host Delaware State on March 9, before facing back-to-back road tests at Kent State (March 13) and Robert Morris (March 17).
