AKRON, Ohio- The Akron Volleyball team fell in three sets (21-24, 24-26, 22-25) to Northern Illinois on Saturday night at the James A. Rhodes Arena.

Prior to Saturday's match, seniors Jen Durra (Painesville, Ohio), Megan Kelly (Lakewood, Ill.), and Hannah Yaconis (Batavia, Ill.) were honored for Senior Night.

Alexis Adleta (West Chester, Ohio) recorded a match-high 12 kills, while Ellen Kinnaird (Lewis Center, Ohio) added five kills. Emily Weigand (Burton, Ohio) added a team-high 31 assists and a service ace.

Akron's defense above the net was effective, out-blocking the Huskies, 16-8. Yaconis and Kelly led the Zips with four block assists, Kelly earning a solo scuff. Teagan Ochaya (Mentor, Ohio) and Weigand each added a pair of block assists.

Johnson and Adleta recorded double-figure digs with each garnering 25 and 15, respectively.

UP NEXT
Akron will hit the road and take on Western Michigan on Nov. 12-13 to close out its road portion of the regular season. The Zips square off with the Broncos on Friday, Nov. 12 at 6 p.m., before closing out the series on Saturday, Nov. 13 at 3 p.m.
