Akron Volleyball Adds Two Players to Program

AKRON, Ohio- The University of Akron volleyball head coach Tom Hanna announced the addition of Avery Brown (Decatur, Ga.) and Chloe Werner (Waterford, Wis.) to the program on Wednesday.

AVERY BROWN | 5'9 | SETTER
Brown, a 5'9 setter from Decatur, Ga., is a high-level setter at St. Pius X High School. Coming off her senior season, Brown surpassed 1,000 career assists while leading the Golden Lions to a State Championship. She was selected All-Region and GVCA Senior All-Start Match. Brown was also a key member to the State Runner Up team in 2019.

"Avery is a competitor who joins our program with a great deal of high-level experience," added Hanna. "She just won a state championship and has national level club experience with a5 which she'll bring over to TK Volleyball Club to finish off her club career. Avery will fit right into our program with her high level of academic achievement as she pursues an Engineering degree here at Akron."

CHLOE WERNER | 6'0 | PIN HITTER
Werner, a 6'0 pin hitter from Waterford Wis., recently helped lead Waterford High School win the Regional Championship on 22 kills and five ace performance. She was named first team All-Conference this season and named honorable mention All-Conference in 2020.

"Chloe will be an outstanding addition to our program," added Hanna. "I love her ability to not only play on both pins as a six-rotation player, but her ability to hit first tempo sets. Chloe also has tremendous upside that I feel will be realized during her time her at Akron. We welcome her to our program and can't wait for her to arrive in August!"

The Zips return to action this weekend as Akron travels to Kalamazoo, Mich. to face Western Michigan Nov. 12-13.
