AKRON, Ohio- The Akron women's basketball head coach Melissa Jackson announced the addition of Aila Miller (Berlin, Ohio) and Faith Stinson (Thornville, Ohio), who each signed a National Letter of Intent to join the program on Wednesday.
"We are very excited about this 2022 class," added Jackson. "Our focus was on the post position, and we feel we got two very good ones from the great basketball state of Ohio. Both Faith and Aila are tremendous student- athletes and winners. They come from great high school program with a rich tradition of winning."
Aila Miller |5'11, Forward
Miller, a 5'11 forward from Berlin, Ohio, is a fundamental forward at Hiland High School. She has played a key role in the success at Hiland, helping the Hawks to three-winning seasons during her three years played. Last season, she was a key player in Hiland's 28-1 record and claiming the Division III State Championship.
"Aila is a very skilled forward with a great knack for rebounding the basketball," said Jackson. "She is a good passer and has played a key role in Hiland's past success. This year you will see her take on a much bigger role and we are looking forward to watching her develop into a dominant force."
Faith Stinson | 6'2, Forward
Stinson, a forward from Thornville, Ohio, is a three-year letterwinner at Sheridan High School. A two-time first team All-Ohio, first-team MVL, and first team Southeast District, she has garnered 982 points, 663 rebounds, and 208 blocks during her career. Last season, she was named Southeast District Player of the Year after averaging a double-double of 19.7 points and 12.2 rebounds during the regular season, while leading the Generals to its third District Championship during her time at Sheridan High School.
"Faith was our No.1 2022 from the start," added Jackson. "She is an extremely skilled forward who can score on the block but also has a quick release and great range from 3. She can make an immediate impact in our program from the start and is the perfect fit in our system. We are so happy she is a Zip."
