Ypsilanti, Mich. – The University of Akron golf team fired a 302-302-309 – 913 (+49)
to finish third overall in the final showing of the Fall Season at the at the Shirley Spork EMU Invite hosted by Eastern Michigan on Tuesday.

Sophomore Jennifer David (Hudson, Ohio) led the Zips' scoring and finished third overall with a 6-over par 222 tournament total on rounds of 71 (-1), 76 (+4) and 75 (+3) at the par-72, 6,175-yard Eagle Crest Golf Club. Also finishing in the Top 25 were senior Abbie Pearce (Green, Ohio) and graduate transfer Ke'Asha Phillips (Owensboro, Ky.).Pearce completed the 54-hole event with a 76-76-78 – 230 (+14) score and tied for 22^nd overall, while Phillips carded a 78-77-76 – 231 (+15) tournament total and finished tied for 25^th overall.

Sophomore Jessica Hahn (Canton, Ohio) and junior Ivana Shah (Mumbai, India) rounded out Akron's scoring with 234 (+18) and 237 (+21) tallies for 29^th and 39^th place finishes, respectively. In addition, junior Jacinta Pikunas (Youngstown, Ohio) placed 15^th overall with a 227 (+11) total on rounds of 77 (+5), 73 (+1) and 77 (+5) scores.

Eastern Michigan held on for the tournament win, topping the 11-team field with a 290-297-312 – 899 (+35) score, while Central Michigan earned runner-up with a 297-299-305 - 901 (+37) ledger. Western Michigan's Alissa Fish claimed medalist honors 69-71-70 - 210 (-6) and Bowling Green's Kayla Davis finished runner-up with a 76-72-73 - 221 (+5).

The tournament concluded Akron's tournament schedule as the Zips will be back in action on Monday and Tuesday, Feb. 7-8 for the Mid-American Match Play Challenge at Lakewood Ranch Royal Lakes course in Lakewood Ranch, Fla.
