Ypsilanti, Mich. – The University of Akron golf team registered a 604 (+28) team total to rank third overall after 36 holes of the play at the Shirley Spork EMU Invite hosted by Eastern Michigan on Monday.

Sophomore Jennifer David (Hudson, Ohio) led the Zips' scoring with a 1-under par 71 first round total mixed with a 3-over effort for a 147 (+3) tournament total at the par-72, 6,175-yard Eagle Crest Golf Club. David is currently tied for third on the players' leaderboard.

Senior Abbie Pearce (Green, Ohio) fired a pair of 76 (+4) scores and sophomore Jessica Hahn (Canton, Ohio) is currently 10-over par with a 154 total. Graduate transfer Ke'Asha Phillips (Owensboro, Ky.) and junior Ivana Shah (Mumbai, India) rounded out Akron's scoring with 155 (+11) and 156 (+12) ledgers.

Eastern Michigan leads the 11-team tournament with a 587 (+11) score, while Central Michigan is currently runner-up with a 596 (+20) tally. Western Michigan's Alissa Fish enters the final round of play at the top of the individual leaderboard with a 4-under par 69-71 – 140 total.

The final round of the tournament is scheduled for a 9 a.m. shotgun start as Akron is slated to start on holes 1-4 along side of Eastern and Central Michigan. Fans can follow the action via GolfStat Live Scoring.
