ATHENS, Ohio- The Akron volleyball team (9-13, 3-7 MAC) fell 15-25, 26-24, 20-25, 26-24, and 13-15 at Ohio inside the Convocation Center Friday night. The Zips were led by sophomore Faith Johnson (Naperville, Ill.) who registered a 18 kills and six blocks.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Bobcats took the first, 25-15, after notching 14 kills in the opening set and limiting Akron to a .09 hitting percentage. The turning point came when Ohio took a 17-9 and continued their offensive strikes to take a 25-15 No. 1 set victory.
In a set that saw 11 ties and four lead changes, the Zips evened the score and took a 26-24 No.2 set victory. Johnson led the Zips with five kills and a service ace. The Bobcats committed eight attack errors to the Zips' six.
Ohio's defense held the Zips to a -0.28 hitting percentage and garnered 10 kills to Akron's seven. Ohio used a 5-2 run that put the Bobcats in command, 13-7. Ohio would go on and score four of the final five points and claimed the No.3 set, 25-20.
Despite being outhit by the Bobcats, Akron forced extra points in the fourth set and claimed a 26-24 set victory after Ohio had back-to-back bad sets. Above the net, Akron tallied six blocks to Ohio-s two.
The Zips jumped out to an early 4-2 lead. Ohio used a 6-2 run that put the Bobcats ahead, 8-6. The two teams battled as the score was tied at 13 all, but Ohio capitalized on a kill and an Akron attack error that secured the No. 5 set and match victory.
