AKRON, Ohio - The 11th-ranked University of Akron rifle team under the direction of head coach Newt Engle faces a busy weekend as the Zips will be challenged by a pair of matches at No. 2 Ole Miss and No. 7 Memphis.

Akron kicks off its competitive weekend squaring off against the Rebels in a 10 a.m. ET tilt on Saturday, Oct. 16 in Oxford, Miss., before battling the Tigers in a 9 a.m. ET showdown in Memphis, Tenn., on Sunday, Oct. 17.

Senior Andre Gross (Webster, N.Y.) leads the Zips with a team-best combined air and smallbore rifle average of 1168.67. He is followed closely on the campaign by senior Wyatt Openshaw (Parkton, Md.) and sophomore Kayla Andreoli (Washington, Pa.), who own combined averages of 1168.33 and 1166.33, respectively.

In the smallbore rifle, Gross maintains a team-high average of 579.67, while the air rifle is headlined by the quartet of Andreoli, Gross, Openshaw and sophomore Samantha Shultz (Fort Wayne, Ind.), who boast team-best 589 averages.

Andreoli, Gross, senior Jeanne Haverhill (Coopersburg, Pa.), freshman Alexis Kirk (Clarence Center, N.Y.), Openshaw, sophomore Gavin Perkowski (Bolivar, Ohio), senior Antonio Remedios (Medina, Ohio), sophomore Erin Schnupp (Gorham, Maine) and Shultz are scheduled to compete for Akron this weekend.
