CLEVELAND ā The Mid-American Conference announced the 2020 football schedule on Wednesday.
Ā
Under the guidance of second-year head coach Tom Arth, Akron opens the 2020 season at home with Youngstown State (Sept. 5).Ā Previously announced non-conference games include: at New Mexico State (Sept. 12), at Clemson (Sept. 19), and at home against Massachusetts (Oct. 17), which will serve as the annual Homecoming contest.

The Zips open MAC play with Miami (Ohio) at home on Sept. 28. UA then hits the road for two MAC contests, visiting Buffalo (Oct.) and Kent State (Oct. 10) in the Crystal Clinic Wagon Wheel Challenge game.

On Oct. 24, Akron visits Ball State, before returning home to host Toledo on Halloween (Oct. 31). Following a bye week, the Zips open November with two home games, entertaining Bowling Green (Nov. 14) and Western Michigan (Nov. 21).Ā

UA closes out the regular season at Ohio on Friday, Nov. 27. That game will be nationally televised by ESPNU, CBS-SN, or ESPN+/3.

All home games will be played at InfoCision StadiumāSumma Field.

An updated release of the MAC 2020 football schedule will be released in late May or early June with kickoff times and a television schedule for the first three weeks of the regular season.Ā All remaining game kickoff times and television will be announced 12 days prior to the scheduled game.

The 24th Marathon MAC Football Championship game will be played at Ford Field in Detroit on either Friday, Dec. 4 or Saturday, Dec. 5.

The 2020 schedule will be challenging as six opponents were bowl eligible last fall:Ā Buffalo (Bahamas), Clemson (national semifinal/national championship games), Kent State (Frisco), Miami (Lending Tree), Ohio (Famous Idaho Potato), and Western Michigan (ServPro First Responder).

Akron, which returns 42 letterwinners, begins spring drills on March 13. The annual Spring Showcase is slated for Saturday, April 18, at Noon at InfoCision Stadium - Summa Field.

Season ticket plansāwhich include a ticket to all six home games as well as a parking passāstarting atĀ only $60 each.Ā Renewals (for current season ticket holders) and new seats are now available for purchase by calling or textingĀ 888-99-AKRON (25766)Ā or visiting The C.P. and Cornelia S. Chima Athletics Ticket Office at InfoCision Stadium-Summa Field (located at 375 E. Exchange Street, near Gate 1 at the southwest corner of the venue, at the corner of E. Exchange and S. Union streets) during business hours (Monday through Friday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.).
