No. 4 Akron Rifle Set for Shootout with Morehead State

AKRON, Ohio – Akron rifle will head to Morehead State for its first meet of 2020 on Saturday, Jan. 18. Action is set to begin at 8 a.m.

Akron is currently 5-2, while Morehead State is 4-1.

The Zips look to continue their momentum from 2019 into the new year after reaching its highest NCAA ranking in team history. An upset over Navy as well as setting a new range record (4697) against North Georgia helped propel the Zips to a dominant start.

Akron is led by Wyatt Openshaw (Parkton, Md.) who is averaging a 581 in Smallbore and 587 in Air Rifle. Also leading the way are Andre Gross (Webster, N.Y.) with a 580 SB, 586 AR and Kera Kaufman (Delmont, S.D.) with a 578 SB, 587 AR.

The Zips return to Robert A. Pinn shooting range on Friday, Jan. 24 as they host Air Force.
