2019 Fall Exhibition Schedule
AKRON, Ohio — The inaugural University of Akron women's lacrosse schedule has been announced.
The Zips, under first-year head coach Christy Mitchell, open the 2020 slate on the road for their first three matches. The opener is set for Feb. 14 at Presbyterian College, followed by stops at Gardner-Webb on Feb. 16 and Robert Morris on Feb. 21.
"We are excited to finally reach our official start date with this team," Mitchell said. "The puzzle has many pieces, but we know they are all going to fall into place. The team is full of excitement, talent, and heart, and it will be awesome to experience all of the firsts together."
UA hosts Saint Francis (Pa.) in its home opener on Sunday, Feb. 23, at 1 p.m. at InfoCision Stadium-Summa Field. Akron then hosts Butler on Saturday, March 1, at 1 p.m. and St. Bonaventure on Saturday, March 7, at 2 p.m.
The Zips travel to Duquesne on March 11, before hosting Central Michigan on Sunday, March 15, at 1 p.m. UA visits Delaware State on March 20.
Akron, which will compete as a member of the ASUN Conference, opens league play at Howard on March 22. The Zips will face conference rival Kent State on March 25 at a neutral site to earn a point in the Crystal Clinic Wagon Wheel Challenge.
Akron returns home to host Kennesaw State on Friday, April 3, at 4 p.m., and Detroit Mercy on Sunday, April 5, at 2 p.m.
The Zips visit Stetson on April 17 and defending ASUN champion Jacksonville on April 19. UA closes out conference play at home with Coastal Carolina on Thursday, April 23, at 5 p.m. and Liberty on Saturday, April 25, at 2 p.m.
The 2020 ASUN Championship will be held at Kennesaw State on April 29 through May 2.
Akron will play five exhibition matches this fall. UA travels to Detroit Mercy on Sept. 29 for two matches. The Zips host Saint Francis in the Crosse Out Cancer match on Oct. 5, before travelling to Kent State on Oct. 19 for two matches.
