BATON ROUGE, La. – University of Akron senior Lucy Bryan (Bristol, England) established a school and Mid-American Conference record in the women's pole vault to headline the efforts of the Zips' track and field team at the LSU Invitational on Saturday, April 27.
Equally impressive for Akron was redshirt freshman Noah Williams (Hilton, N.Y.), who registered a school-record time of 46.28 in the men's 400 meters, shattering his personal-best time of 47.19 by nearly a second, en route to placing second in the event. Williams bested Brent Gray's school-record time of 46.40 set on May 29, 2015.
"Noah (Williams) also ran great. After a tough two years of injuries, he finally was able to run fully healthy, the way we knew he could and better. He looks like he has a lot left in him."
Senior Curtis Richardson (Blacklick, Ohio) continued his stellar campaign registering a career-best mark of 7-2.50 (2.20m) to place second in the men's high jump. The second-rated mark in outdoor program history, stands as the No. 11 effort in the NCAA this season, besting his previous career-high mark of 7-2.25 (2.19m) set on March 23.
Senior Matt Ludwig (Chardon, Ohio) finished second in the men's pole vault with a season-best mark of 18-7.25 (5.67m) in a battle versus Mondo Duplantis, the 2019 NCAA indoor men's pole vault champion. Duplantis recorded a world-leading mark of 19-5.75 (5.94m) to win the event.
Freshman Sara Foster (Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio) posted the fourth-fastest time in outdoor program history in the women's 400-meter hurdles, 60.02, to finish fourth in the event.
Redshirt junior Maike Anstett (Karlsruhe, Germany) placed fourth in the women's triple jump, the fifth-best performance in outdoor program history, with a career-long mark of 40-2.25 (12.25m).
Senior Jordan Latimer (Huber Heights, Ohio) placed second in the men's long jump with a mark of 25-5.25 (7.75m).
Redshirt freshman Garrett White (Cleveland Heights, Ohio) recorded a career-best time of 54.31 to finish second in the men's 400-meter hurdles, while redshirt sophomore Patrick Kimball (Pittsburgh, Ohio) placed fifth in the men's 110-meter hurdles crossing the line in 14.24.
The men's 4x400 relay team of freshman Zach Robinson (Pickerington, Ohio), Williams, White and freshman Sam Janson (Dayton, Ohio) finished second in a season-best time of 3:13.11.

Williams bested Brent Gray's school-record time of 46.40 set on May 29, 2015.
"It was a good school-record weekend in a variety events for the Zips," Akron head coach Dennis Mitchell commented. "Two weeks out is when we want to be sharpening up for MAC. This weekend was a good weekend for doing that. Congrats to Ian (Behm), finally getting the javelin record, which was our oldest record on the books."
Bryan captured the women's pole vault eclipsing a school-record mark of 14-9, breaking the all-time school and league standard of 14-5.50 (4.41m) set by Annika Roloff on May 10, 2014. She cleared a personal-best outdoor mark of 14-5.50 (4.41m) on her third and final attempt to win the competition. After passing on the next height, 14-7.50 (4.46m), Bryan bested the bar at 14-9 (4.50m) on her second attempt at the mark.
"Here at LSU, Lucy (Bryan) broke away from her consistency at clearing between 4.30 (14-1) to 4.40 (14-5) at every meet," said Mitchell. "Now she is in the 4.50 (14-9) world and has now officially taken the 2014 national champion (Annika Roloff) off the school record books."
