AKRON, Ohio – The University of Akron men's and women's track and field teams are set to close out the month of April competing in a trio of meets across this country this weekend.
The Zips open up their efforts at the 52nd Annual Hillsdale College Gina Relays in Hillsdale, Mich., Thursday through Saturday, April 25-27, before taking part in the Jesse Owens Classic (April 26-27) hosted by Ohio State and the LSU Invitational (April 27) in Baton Rouge, La.
UP NEXT: The University of Akron men's and women's track and field teams are set to close out the month of April competing in a trio of meets across this country this weekend.
The three-day Hillsdale College Gina Relays will kick off on Thursday, April 25, with women's 5,000 meters at 7 p.m. The men's hammer at noon begins action on Friday, April 26, before the meet concludes with the men's 4x400 relay at 3:40 p.m. on Saturday, April 27.
Competing for the Zips will be redshirt junior Tevin Brown (Toledo, Ohio) and senior Ashley Murray (Seville, Ohio).

The Zips then will split their efforts between the Jesse Owens Classic (April 26-27) and LSU Invitational (April 27).
The running of the prestigious Jesse Owens Classic begins with the women's hammer and javelin at 2 p.m. on Friday, with running events commencing at 6:30 p.m. with the women's 5,000 meters. Final-day competition starts with the women's shot put and men's discus at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, before the men's 4x400 relay draws the meet to a close at 5 p.m.

The LSU Invitational is set for Saturday with the women's discus kicking off competition at 11 a.m. ET, before the meet concludes with the men's 4x400 relay at 4:10 p.m. ET.
In a highly-competitive meet, 32nd-ranked Akron is joined in the men's field by No. 2 LSU, No. 4 Alabama, No. 45 Ole Miss and Louisiana. The women's draw includes Akron, No. 7 Alabama, No. 8 LSU, Ole Miss and Louisiana.
One of the highlights of the meet will be the men's pole vault showdown between senior Matt Ludwig (Chardon, Ohio) and Mondo Duplantis, 2019 NCAA indoor pole vault champion.

NATIONAL RANKINGS: The University of Akron men's track and field squad is ranked No. 32 in the latest United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association NCAA Division I Division I Men's Outdoor Track and Field National Rating Index released April 23.
The Zips' men's squad is rated sixth in the most-current Great Lakes Regional ratings, while the women's team checks in at No. 10.
The Zips are the top-rated MAC team ranked in the men's national and regional polls.
In the Event Squad rankings released on April 22, Akron is ranked third nationally in the men's pole vault and among the top 20 in five different events.
Akron is also rated 10th in the men's high jump and women's 400-meter hurdles, 11th in the men's long jump and 19th in the men's javelin.
The Akron men's and women's teams are ranked No. 20 and No. 25, respectively, in the latest Collegiate Indoor Dual Meet Rankings as compiled by Jesse Squire for Track and Field News.
ZIPS AMONG NATION'S BEST IN LATEST TFRRS RANKINGS: Akron has six student-athletes ranked in the top-25 nationally by the Track and Field Results Reporting System (TFRRS) is this week's rankings, including seniors Jordan Latimer (Huber Heights, Ohio) and Matt Ludwig, who are fifth in the nation in the men's long jump (26-3.75/8.02M) and men's pole vault (18-6.50/5.65m), respectively.
Also rated among the top-25 are seniors Lucy Bryan (Bristol, England) (sixth in women's pole vault - 14-5.25/4.40m) and Curtis Richardson (Blacklick, Ohio) (15th in men's high jump - 7-2.25/2.19m), redshirt junior Ian Behm (Volant, Pa.) (16th in men's javelin - 231-9/70.63m) and senior Mackenzie Andrews (Toowoomba, Australia) (22nd in women's 3,000-meter steeplechase - 10:12.72).
CRACKING THE ALL-TIME TOP-FIVE PERFORMANCES: The Zips registered a trio of school records as part of six overall top-five performances in outdoor program history in Akron's four meets a week ago.
Redshirt sophomore Hesham Eldesouky (Nasr City, Egypt) recorded a school-record mark of 52-5.25 (15.98m) in the men's triple jump at the Beach Invitational hosted by Long Beach State on April 20. Eldesouky's jump was good for a seventh-place performance in the event for Akron.
Mackenzie Andrews registered a school-record time of 10:12.72 to place fourth in the women's 3,000-meter invitational steeplechase at Mt. Sac Relays hosted by Mt. San Antonio College on April 19.
A day earlier, Tevin Brown posted a school-record time of 30:06.41 in the men's 10,000 meters at the Mt. Sac Relays on April 18. Brown bested the school-record time of 30:10.65 set by Jason Headman on April 17, 2009.

Sara Foster registered the fifth-best performance in outdoor program history placing third in the women's 400-meter hurdles with a career-best time of 60.49.
Senior Dara Perry (Akron, Ohio) recorded a season-best time of 13.31 to finish fourth overall and first among collegians in the women's 100-meter hurdles.
Senior Abigale Wilson (Carrollton, Ohio) posted a season-best mark of 178-1 (54.29m) to earn a third-place finish in the women's discus.
Senior Kamar Majid (Akron, Ohio) registered a 10-event cumulative score of 6,736 to place fourth in the men's decathlon to highlight the Zips' efforts at the Bryan Clay Invitational hosted by Azusa Pacific on April 18.
Freshman Bobby Casey (Mayfield, Ohio) added a career-best score of 6,070 to finish 10th in the initial decathlon of his collegiate career, while redshirt junior Malik Hudson (Cleveland, Ohio) persevered through the competition to tally a score of 3,829.

In a highly-competitive meet, 28th-ranked Akron was joined in the men's field by No. 3 Alabama, No. 4 Texas A&M, No. 6 Houston, No. 12 LSU, No. 19 Ole Miss, No. 40 Auburn and North Carolina A&T. The women's draw included 24th-rated Akron, No. 1 LSU, No. 8 Texas A&M, No. 19 Ole Miss, No. 23 Alabama, No. 27 Auburn, Houston and North Carolina A&T.
Jordan Latimer won the men's long jump registering a mark of 25-10 (7.87m).
Recording a then season-best jump of 7-0.50 (2.15m) to finish first in the men's high jump was Curtis Richardson.
Rodrigo Iglesias posted a throw of 222-9 (67.90m) to place first in the men's javelin, while Ian Behm finished second with a mark of 210-11 (64.30m).
Additionally, Jenna Frantz (Versailles, Ohio) finished third in the women's pole vault with a clearance of 13-9.25 (4.20m).

Andrews registered a school-record time of 10:12.72 to place fourth in the women's 3,000-meter invitational steeplechase at Mt. Sac Relays hosted by Mt. San Antonio College on April 19.
A day earlier, Tevin Brown posted a school-record time of 30:06.41 in the men's 10,000 meters at the Mt. Sac Relays on April 18. Brown bested the school-record time of 30:10.65 set by Jason Headman on April 17, 2009.
Bryan won the women's pole vault eclipsing 14-3.25 (4.35m) to headline the Zips' performances at the Pacific Coast Intercollegiate hosted by Long Beach State on April 18.
In a battle with South Dakota's Chris Nilsen, the 2018 NCAA pole vault champion, Ludwig placed second in the men's pole vault with a mark of 18-1 (5.51m).
Sara Foster registered the fifth-best performance in outdoor program history placing third in the women's 400-meter hurdles with a career-best time of 60.49.
Senior Dara Perry (Akron, Ohio) recorded a season-best time of 13.31 to finish fourth overall and first among collegians in the women's 100-meter hurdles.
Senior Abigale Wilson (Carrollton, Ohio) posted a season-best mark of 178-1 (54.29m) to earn a third-place finish in the women's discus.
Senior Kamar Majid (Akron, Ohio) registered a 10-event cumulative score of 6,736 to place fourth in the men's decathlon to highlight the Zips' efforts at the Bryan Clay Invitational hosted by Azusa Pacific on April 18.
Freshman Bobby Casey (Mayfield, Ohio) added a career-best score of 6,070 to finish 10th in the initial decathlon of his collegiate career, while redshirt junior Malik Hudson (Cleveland, Ohio) persevered through the competition to tally a score of 3,829.

A YEAR AGO: Matt Ludwig captured the men's pole vault eclipsing 18-6.75 (5.66m), Lucy Bryan equaled a then career-best mark of 14-3.25 (4.35m) to earn the triumph in the women's pole vault to lead the Zips at the LSU Invitational on April 28, 2018.
In a highly-competitive meet, 28th-ranked Akron was joined in the men's field by No. 3 Alabama, No. 4 Texas A&M, No. 6 Houston, No. 12 LSU, No. 19 Ole Miss, No. 40 Auburn and North Carolina A&T. The women's draw included 24th-rated Akron, No. 1 LSU, No. 8 Texas A&M, No. 19 Ole Miss, No. 23 Alabama, No. 27 Auburn, Houston and North Carolina A&T.
Jordan Latimer won the men's long jump registering a mark of 25-10 (7.87m).
Recording a then season-best jump of 7-0.50 (2.15m) to finish first in the men's high jump was Curtis Richardson.
Rodrigo Iglesias posted a throw of 222-9 (67.90m) to place first in the men's javelin, while Ian Behm finished second with a mark of 210-11 (64.30m).
Additionally, Jenna Frantz (Versailles, Ohio) finished third in the women's pole vault with a clearance of 13-9.25 (4.20m).
