Zips Basketball School Summer Camp Schedule Released

AKRON – The University of Akron basketball program released its 2019 Zips Basketball School and Team Shootout schedules which offers discounts for early registration and multiple campers, head coach John Groce announced on Tuesday.
Zips Basketball School is an all-day summer camp for boys and girls entering 1st through 7th grades, and will cover team concepts and attitude, motivational strategies, basic fundamentals, defensive concepts, conditioning techniques, shooting instruction, goal setting strategies, rebounding skills and total player development.
The Zips Basketball School is slated for Monday-Wednesday, June 10-12 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at James A. Rhodes Arena – the home of the Akron Zips. Tuition for the Basketball School is $180.00 per student, which includes individual instruction by Coach Groce and the Zips' coaching staff with experienced Division I players. In addition, Akron Basketball announced the annual Junior Varsity and Varsity Team Shootouts.
The Junior Varsity and Varsity Team Shootout is for boy's high school JV and varsity teams. The shootout has room for eight teams per session with each team playing a minimum of three games. The JV Shootout is scheduled for Thursday, June 13 at Rhodes Arena from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The Varsity Team Shootouts include four sessions, 32 teams total, and are scheduled for Thursday through Saturday, June 13-15.
Varsity session one is scheduled for Thursday evening (1-6 p.m.) followed by sessions two and three on Friday – session two at 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. and session three at 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. The final shootout session is slated for Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
All games will be played at James A. Rhodes Arena and officiated by registered high school officials.
