AKRON, Ohio – The University of Akron men's and women's track and field teams continue their spring campaign this week as the Zips will compete in a pair of meets in Texas this weekend.
UP NEXT: The Zips are in Texas where Akron will be competing at the Texas Relays in Austin as well as the Bobcat Invitational in San Marcos this Thursday through Saturday, March 28-30.
TEXAS RELAYS: The 92nd annual Texas Relays will draw more than 7,200 athletes among the high school, collegiate and professional ranks from around the country and around the world for its annual meet this week.
The men's decathlon and women's heptathlon will be contested on Wednesday and Thursday, March 27-28. The women's heptathlon commences the Texas Relays at 11:30 a.m. ET on Wednesday. Second-day competition in the men's decathlon begins at 11 a.m. ET. on Thursday.
Field events kick off with the women's hammer on Thursday at 12 p.m. ET, with running events getting underway with the women's 400-meter hurdles at 5:30 p.m. ET. The finals of the 4x400 relays will conclude the Texas Relays on Saturday, March 30, starting at 5:05 p.m. ET.

BOBCAT INVITATIONAL: Akron will also participate in the Bobcat Invitational hosted by Texas State beginning on Thursday and running through Saturday, March 28-30, in San Marcos, Texas.
The women's discus will commence competition in the field on Thursday at 12 p.m. ET, before field and track events begin at 2 and 5:30 p.m. ET, respectively on Friday. Final-day action on Saturday kicks off with the women's javelin at 10 a.m. ET and the women's 4x100 relay at 3:30 p.m. ET.

NATIONAL RANKINGS: The University of Akron men's track and field squad entered the 2019 outdoor campaign ranked No. 33 in the Preseason Championship United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association NCAA Division I Division I Men's Outdoor Track and Field National Rating Index released March 18.
Akron is the top-rated Mid-American Conference team ranked in the men's and women's national polls with the Zips' women's squad checking in at No. 47.
ZIPS AMONG NATION'S BEST IN LATEST TFRRS RANKINGS: Akron has five student-athletes ranked in the top-25 nationally by the Track and Field Results Reporting System (TFRRS) is this week's rankings, including seniors Lucy Bryan (Bristol, England) and Jordan Latimer (Huber Heights, Ohio), who are second in the nation in the women's pole vault (14-1.25/4.30m) and men's long jump (25-6/7.77m), respectively.
Also rated among the top-25 are seniors Matt Ludwig (Chardon, Ohio) (third in men's pole vault - 18-0.50/5.50m) and Curtis Richardson (Blacklick, Ohio) (third in men's high jump - 7-2.25/2.19m), and redshirt junior Ian Behm (Volant, Pa.) (eighth in men's javelin - 231-9/70.63m).
CRACKING THE ALL-TIME TOP-FIVE PERFORMANCES: Ian Behm and Curtis Richardson each registered marks that stand as the second-best performances in outdoor program history a week ago at the Roadrunner Invitational in San Antonio, Texas.
Behm won the men's javelin with a mark of 231-9 (70.63m), while Richardson bested the field in the men's high jump clearing the bar at 7-2.25 (2.19m).
Freshman Laurel Bristow (Pittsburgh, Pa.) registered the fourth-best mark in outdoor program history in her collegiate debut with a career-best throw of 151-1 (46.05m) to earn a third-place finish.
A year ago, the Zips posted three school records as part of 21 overall top-five program marks during the outdoor campaign.
A WEEK AGO: The University of Akron track and field team closed out the Roadrunner Invitational hosted by the University of Texas at San Antonio on March 23 in San Antonio, Texas, garnering six first-place performances as part of 17 overall top-five efforts on the day.
Lucy Bryan eclipsed 14-1.25 (4.30m) to win the women's pole vault with the second-rated mark in the NCAA this spring.
Recording the third-best mark in the NCAA this season in the men's pole vault was Matt Ludwig, who bested 18-0.50 (5.50m) to win the event.
Jordan Latimer won the men's long jump with the second-longest mark in the NCAA this spring soaring 25-10.25 (7.88m). Redshirt sophomore Hesham Eldesouky (Nasr City, Egypt) placed fifth with a career-best outdoor mark of 22-10.50 (6.97m).
Curtis Richardson registered a career-best mark of 7-2.25 (2.19m) to earn the victory in the men's high jump. Richardson's effort stands as the third-best performance in outdoor program history and No. 3 mark in the NCAA this season.
Freshman Nuh Andu (Doha, Qatar) placed third in the event with a career-best clearance of 6-6.75 (2.00m).

Laurel Bristow registered the fourth-best mark in outdoor program history in her collegiate debut with a career-best throw of 151-1 (46.05m) to earn a third-place finish. Fellow freshman Trinity Clark (Kane, Pa.) placed fifth in the event with a career-best mark of 137-8 (41.96m).
Redshirt sophomore Patrick Kimball (Pittsburgh, Pa.) captured the men's 110-meter hurdles crossing the line in 14.26.
The Zips' trio of redshirt sophomore Marc Migliozzi (Pittsburgh, Pa.), sophomore Andre Bollam-Godbott (Brunswick, Ohio) and redshirt sophomore Nick Stricklen (Lexington, Ohio) recorded career-best times of 3:53.56, 3:55.71 and 3:58.27 in the men's 1,500 meters to place first, second and fourth, respectively.
Senior Elizabeth Mosier (Austintown, Ohio) ran the women's 2,000-meter steeplechase in 7:29.62 to earn a second-place finish.
Junior Iman Batiste (Hillard, Ohio) posted a time of 62.86 to place third in the women's 400-meter hurdles, while freshman Sara Foster (Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio) added a career-best time of 63.36 to finish fifth.
Senior Abigale Wilson (Carrollton, Ohio) registered a third-place effort in the women's shot put with a mark of 49-1.75 (14.98m), while recording a throw of 157-3 (47.92m) to finish fifth in the women's discus.
In the women's 800 meters, sophomore Lindsey Scarton (Berea, Ohio) crossed the line in a career-best outdoor time of 2:16.25 to place fourth.
Making his collegiate debut in the men's javelin with a mark of 180-8 (55.07m) to place fifth was freshman Bobby Casey (Mayfield, Ohio).
Placing third and fifth in the women's hammer with career-best marks of 175-7 (53.53m) and 166-11 (50.89m) was redshirt junior Shawnn Foster (Cheektowa, N.Y.) and senior Olivia Snyder (Navarre, Ohio).
Redshirt junior Maike Anstett (Karlsruhe, Germany) posted a career-best outdoor mark of 5-5 (1.65m) to finish fifth in the women's high jump.

Jordan Latimer registered a mark of 25-8.25 (7.83m) in the men's long jump, the then fourth-longest jump in outdoor program history, to finish sixth in the event.
Matt Ludwig finished sixth in the men's pole vault with a clearance of 18-0.50 (5.50m), while Curtis Richardson placed seventh in the men's high jump eclipsing 6-9.75 (2.08m).
