AKRON, Ohio – The No. 14-ranked University of Akron rifle team will shoot its NCAA Qualifier match on Saturday, Feb. 16 at 9 a.m., hosted by Ohio State at Hugh W. Wiley Range in Columbus, Ohio.
The Zips will be shooting for a bid to compete at the NCAA Championships hosted by West Virginia, March 8-9, at the WVU Coliseum. The top-eight teams and individual competitors selected to compete in the championships will be announced Tuesday, Feb. 19 at 5 p.m.
The last time the Zips were in action was Jan. 26, when they were edged by Army, 4,668-4,649. Freshman Patrick Schnupp (Gorham, Maine) led Akron on the smallbore range with a new personal best score of 582. In air rifle competition, junior Cierra Terrizzi (Dallastown, Pa.) recorded a team-high score of 592.
Following the match this weekend, Akron will be hosting the Great America Rifle Conference Championships at Stile Athletics Field House, Feb. 22-23.
