Migliozzi Set to Represent Akron at NCAA Cross Country Championships

AKRON, Ohio - University of Akron senior Marc Migliozzi (Pittsburgh, Pa.) is set to represent the Zips at the NCAA Cross Country Championships this Saturday, Nov. 23 in Terre Haute, Indiana.

The men's 10K race is set for 12:15 p.m. ET, at the LaVern Gibson Championship Cross Country Course.

Migliozzi became the first Akron runner to qualify for the NCAA Cross Country Championships in program history receiving an at-large selection on Nov. 16. He was one of 38 individuals selected to participate in each championship through an automatic qualifier and at-large selection process. All individual qualifiers finished in the top 25 in their regions.

Earlier this week, Migliozzi garnered All-Great Lakes Regional accolades when the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) unveiled its all-regional selections on Nov. 18.

A total of 225 men and 225 women from 139 different institutions earned the distinction by finishing among the top-25 runners at one of nine regional sites across the country.

A week ago, Migliozzi led the Zips' men's squad at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional hosted by the University of Wisconsin on Nov. 15, at the Thomas Zimmer Championship Cross Country Course in Madison, Wis., crossing the line in a career- and team-best time of 30:46.4, en route to finishing 19th overall in the men's 10K. The men's eighth-place team effort was the second-best in program history, behind only a seventh-place finish in 2015.
