AKRON, Ohio – The Akron women's golf team followed a 319 (+31) opening round with a 308 (+20) to elevate to the top of the team leaderboard with a 627 (+51) tally at Silver Lake Country Club as the Zips are hosting the Mid-American Conference Fall Preview.

Sophomore Ivana Shah (Mumbai, India) led the charge, cutting five strokes from her initial round to finish the day with a 79-74 – 153 (+9) ledger. Shah is tied at fourth overall.

Sophomore Jacinta Pikunas (Youngstown, Ohio) and freshman Jessica Hahn (Canton, Ohio) followed as both golfers are tied for 15^th overall. Pikunas used rounds of 80 (+8) and 78 (+6) for a 156 (+14) total, while Hahn registered a pair of 79 (+7) scores.

Freshman Jennifer David (Hudson, Ohio) finished the day at 15-over par with a 159 total on rounds of 81 (+9) and 78 (+6), while freshman Riley Dean (Lewis Center, Ohio) rounded out the team scoring with an 85-78 – 163 (+19) total. David and Dean are tied at 19^th and 32^nd, respectively.

Additionally, Akron saw senior Allyson Wentworth (Stewartsville, N.J.) and junior Abbie Pearce (Green, Ohio) competing as individuals. Wentworth posted a pair of 80 (+8) scores for a 160 (+16) finish and Pearce went 84-85 – 169 (+25). Wentworth is currently tied for 22^nd overall and Pearce is tied at 47^th.

The Zips currently hold a three-stroke lead over the field as Eastern Michigan is second with a 630 (+54) total. Ball State and Toledo are tied for the third spot with 633 (+57) team totals.

Sitanun Jonglikit (Kent State) leads the individual race with 75-73 – 148 (+4) mark while Julia Goodson (Kent State) is second 76-75 – 151 (+7) and Jasmine Chee (Western Michigan) ranks third, 76-76 – 152 (+8).

Tuesday's final round is scheduled for a shotgun start at 9 a.m.
