Powell's Point, N.C. – Junior Fabian Sunden (Sweden) and sophomore Beau Bayerl (Ashland, Ohio) led the Akron men's golf team to a seventh-place finish, 848 (-4), with a pair of 211 (-2) tournament performances to finish tied 16^th overall at the ODU/OBX Intercollegiate.

Sunden posted another solid performance in the final round, adding a 72 (+1) leger to his previous rounds of 73 (+2) and 66 (-5) for the 2-under par tournament total. However, Bayerl led the Zips scoring on the final day of competition at the par-71, 6,502-yard Kilmarlic Golf Club.

Bayerl fired a 5-under par 66 final-round effort, climbing 19 spots to 16^th overall on the players leaderboard. His bogey-free round consisted of 13 pars and five birdies as he recorded three birdies on the front-9 and two on the back-9. For the tournament, he collected 35 pars and 12 birdies en route to the 76-69-66 - 211 (-2) finish.

Freshman Braden Smith (Sterling, Ohio) completed the 54-hole event with an even-par scorecard, 71-70-72 – 213, which was good for a 28^th place stalemate. He carded 27 pars and 15 birdies.

Rounding out the Zips' scoring were senior Mitchell McFarland (Wheelersburg, Ohio) and junior Kaleb Smith (Mansfield, Ohio). McFarland posted a second-consecutive 69 (-2) score to finish tied at 34^th overall. He registered rounds of 77 (+6), 69 (-2) and 69 (-2) for a 2-over par 215 total. Kaleb Smith tallied 78-72-71 – 221 (+8) scores to finish tied for 53^rd overall.

The ODU/OBX Intercollegiate completed the Zips fall competition schedule.
