EAST LANSING, Mich.– Akron concluded play at the ITA Midwest Regional Women's Tennis Championships, hosted by Michigan State, on Saturday at the MSU Indoor Tennis Facility.
In the singles Main Draw first round, junior Anna Uljanov (Schweinfurt, Germany) fell to Eastern Michigan's Rachel Papavasilopoulos in straight sets, 6-0, 6-2.
Junior Miruna Vasilescu (Ulm, Germany) dropped a 6-4, 7-5 decision to Notre Dame's Page Freeman.
"A great week of tennis for the Zips!" said interim head coach Brian Peters. "It was great to see Miruna and Anna compete in a very tough draw. Miruna played two very close sets against her opponent from Notre Dame. We have a lot of positive momentum going into practice this week leading into our final fall tournament next weekend."
Akron hosts its own Akron Shootout on Friday, Oct. 25 through Sunday, Oct. 27. All play will be held at Cleveland State.
