AKRON, Ohio – The Akron men's golf team returns to action at the Dayton Flyer Invitational hosted by Dayton on Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 14-15
The 54-hole event is scheduled to be played at the par 71 NCR Country Club (South Course) that stretches 7,048 yards. Akron added this tournament as a result of the Battle at Briar's Creek, hosted by College of Charleston, was canceled due to weather.
The tournament format consists of 36 holes to be played on Monday, beginning at 9 a.m. with a shotgun start. Play will continue through 36 holes. On Tuesday, the 11-team field is scheduled to start with tee times determined by team position at 9 a.m.
The field includes Dayton (host), Akron, Bowling Green, Bradley, Cleveland State, Loyola Chicago, Marshall, Oakland, Ohio State, Purdue Fort Wayne and Northern Kentucky.
Akron's starting five consists of senior Mitchell McFarland (Wheelersburg, Ohio), junior Fabian Sunden (Sweden), sophomore Beau Bayerl (Ashland, Ohio), sophomore Ignacio Puente (Seville, Spain) and freshman Braden Smith (Sterling, Ohio). In addition, freshman Quinn Patterson (Columbus, Ohio) will compete as an individual.
