CLEVELAND — In spring exhibition play, the University of Akron women's volleyball team dropped a 4-1 decision to Cleveland State at the Eastside Volleyball Club on Friday evening.

The Zips lost 25-19, won 25-20, lost 25-18, 15-11, 15-12. No formal statistics were kept.

"Once again, we were able to get our entire roster a lot of quality opportunities to take their training and apply it in match play," head coach Tom Hanna said. "The work we've done on changing our offensive tempo this spring is progressing well. We certainly could have handled some specific match situations and played better in some aspects of our system tonight. I'm looking forward to wrapping up the competitive part of our spring next weekend with us showing an improvement in some of those areas."

Spring exhibition play concludes on Saturday, April 21, at a six-team round robin tournament at Youngstown State. Participating teams include Akron, Ashland, Cleveland State, Robert Morris, Ursuline, and host YSU. Times and match-ups will be announced next week.
