Hilton Head Island, S.C. – The Akron Zips men's golf team climbed one spot on the team leaderboard to finish 11^th overall out of 18 teams with a final round 307 (+19) at the Wexford Plantation Intercollegiate on Tuesday.

The Zips finished the 54-hole tournament with a 905 (+41) on rounds of 304 (+16), 294 (+6), and 307(+19) at the Wexford Plantation Course, a par 72 Arnold Palmer signature course that measures 6,913 yards in length.

Akron was paced by junior Elliott Grayson (Shelby, N.C.), who finished fourth overall after carding a 75 (+3) final round score. Grayson entered the final round at the top of the leaderboard following Monday's 8-under 136 two-round total. He completed the two-day event with a 5-under par 211 scorecard.

Senior George Baylis (Ascot, England) followed in scoring for Akron with a 231 (+15) ledger, ending the event tied for 53^rd on the player's board. He opened with 78 (+6) and 75 (+3) scores and added a second 78 (+6) score to his tournament total.

Also carding a pair of 78 (+6) scores was sophomore Euan Gill (Scotland). Gill opened and ended the tournament with the 6-over scores while adding a second-round 80 (+8) for a 236 (+20) total, tying for 65^th overall.

Freshman Fabian Sunden (Sweden) and junior Jacob Appleby (North Canton, Ohio) rounded out the Zips' scoring with 239 (+23) and 240 (+24) scores. Sunden finished tied for 75^th with rounds of 78 (+6), 74 (+2), and 87 (+15), while Appleby completed the spring's first outing with 85 (+13), 79 (+7), and 76 (+3) scores for the 78^th spot.

TCU's Stefano Mazzoli navigated the extremely windy conditions with ease, setting the course record with a 7-under 65 score. Mazzoli climbed eight positions on the leaderboard to earn medalist honors with a 206 (-10) tournament total. He led TCU to the team championship at 11-under par 853 three-round total.

The Akron Zips will be back in action on Monday and Tuesday, March 5-6 at the Palmetto Golf Club in Aiken, S.C. for the Palmetto Intercollegiate hosted by USC Aiken. Fans can follow the action via GolfStat Live Scoring.
