Akron, Ohio – The Akron Zips men's golf team is scheduled to play the Bearcat Invitational on Monday and Tuesday, Sept. 25-26 at the Coldstream Country Club hosted by Cincinnati.
Â
"We are looking forward to completing against a great field and a great course at the Bearcat Invitational for the second straight year," Zips' head coach David Trainor said. "It will be a great test for our guys. We've worked hard, now we just need to trust and believe."
Â
Akron enters the 54-hole tournament at the par-71 Coldstream Country Club. The 7,150-yard course is one of Cincinnati's premier private clubs situated on 190 idyllic acres, featuring an elite, championship 18-hole golf course. It has served as the backdrop to numerous Ohio amateur and open championships as well as
USGA qualifiers.
Â
The 12-team field includes host Cincinnati, Akron, Arkansas, Charleston, Illinois, Kentucky, Louisville, Middle Tennessee, Mississippi State, Ohio State, and Xavier.
Â
Each team will play with six players with four scores counting toward the team total. Akron's lineup includes juniors Elliott Grayson (Shelby, N.C.), Jacob Morgan (Lafayette, Ga.), and Jacob Appleby (North Canton, Ohio) along with senior George Baylis (Ascot, England). Rounding out the starting six are sophomore Mitchell McFarland (Wheelersburg, Ohio) and freshman Fabian Sunden (Sweden).
Â
The 54-hole event spans two days as Monday features 36 holes of continuous play, starting with a first round shotgun start at 8:45 a.m. Tuesday's final round is scheduled for tee times, beginning at 8:45 a.m. Fans can follow the action live via GolfStat Live Scoring.
