Coaches Pick Zips Football Fourth in the MAC East

CLEVELAND— On the first day of game week for the 2017 season, the 12 Mid-American Conference head football coaches announced their 2017 Preseason Poll, selecting Ohio (East) and Toledo (West) to win their respective divisions this season.
Season ticket plans—which include a ticket to all six home games as well as a parking pass—start at only $60 each. Renewals (for current season ticket holders) and new seats are now available for purchase by calling 1-888-99-AKRON (25766) or visiting The C.P. and Cornelia S. Chima Athletics Ticket Office at InfoCision Stadium - Summa Field (located at 375 E. Exchange Street, near Gate 1 at the southwest corner of the venue, at the corner of E. Exchange and S. Union streets) during business hours (Monday through Friday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.).
Group tickets start at $10 each (with a minimum of 15 people).
Single-game tickets are on sale now.
2017 MAC HEAD FOOTBALL COACHES PRESEASON POLL
CLEVELAND— On the first day of game week for the 2017 season, the 12 Mid-American Conference head football coaches announced their 2017 Preseason Poll, selecting Ohio (East) and Toledo (West) to win their respective divisions this season.
Like the media poll released last month, the Akron Zips were tabbed to finish fourth in the East Division. Defending East champion Ohio was selected first with 69 total points, followed by Miami with 61 points and Bowling Green. Akron, Buffalo, and Kent State rounded out the picks.
In the West Division, Toledo was selected first with 66 points, followed by Western Michigan with 58 points. Northern Illinois was picked third, while Eastern Michigan, Central Michigan and Ball State rounded out the predictions.
The Toledo Rockets were also predicted to win the 2017 MAC Championship Game which will be held on Saturday, Dec. 2 at Ford Field in Detroit.
Earlier this summer in conjunction with the 2017 MAC Football Media Day, the league's media members selected a preseason poll with identical results -- Ohio and Toledo selected to win their respective divisions, with Toledo picked to win the 2017 Marathon MAC Football Championship Game.
Under the guidance of sixth-year head coach Terry Bowden, Akron returns 57 letterwinners, including 15 starters, to its spread offense and 4-3 defense. The Zips open the 2017 season at Penn State on Saturday, Sept. 2, at Noon on ABC.
