Women's Soccer Pre-Season Continues With Exhibition Contest

AKRON, Ohio – With the 2017 women's soccer pre-season in full swing, the Zips' prepare for their lone exhibition contest on Sunday, Aug. 13, against Robert Morris in Moon Township, Pa., at 2 p.m.

Under the guidance of third-year head coach Noreen Herlihy, the Zips return 11 players from the 2016 squad, along with 13 incoming freshmen to complete the 2017 roster.

The Zips returning core of senior Sydney Schipani (Pittsburgh, Pa.), juniors Rachel Baughman (Alliance, Ohio), Erica Schrader (Blacklick, Ohio), Shea O'brien (Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio), and sophomore Ashley Amato (Pittsburgh, Pa.) will look to lead a young Akron roster to its second Mid-American Conference tournament appearance in the past three years.

UA and Robert Morris have squared-off in the regular season in four matches. The Zips have edged the Colonials in all four contests dating back to 2001. Most recently, Akron defeated Robert Morris, 5-2, at FirstEnergy Stadium – Cub Cadet Field last year.

Akron opens the 2017 regular season with a pair of contests on their home field of FirstEnergy Stadium – Cub Cadet Field against Milwaukee on Friday, Aug. 18, and then a matchup with Green Bay on Sunday, Aug. 20.

Women's soccer season tickets are just $40 for general admission. Fans who have 2017 men's soccer season tickets can add a women's Family Plan for just $40 total. Discounted season tickets are available for current UA Faculty and Staff at $32. Single-game and group tickets will be available beginning in early August.

Season tickets can be purchased online at GoZips.com/tickets, by calling 1-888-99-AKRON (25766), or at the C.P. and Cornelia S. Chima Athletics Ticket Office. The ticket office is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
